Glossary
A single look-up page for every Gleo term used across these docs.
The single source of truth for every term used across the rest of these docs. Linkable — every entry has its own anchor (e.g. /docs/glossary/#term-playbook) so other pages can jump straight to the definition.
A component within a session — Before, During, or After phase. The atomic unit of agenda planning. See also Step, Agenda.
A runtime instance of a Playbook Template. Has a team, a calendar, real sessions, and an end date. Synonym for Playbook in most contexts.
The in-session running order — composed of activities (discussions, working sessions, decision moments), the steps inside each activity, plus breaks and labels. Designed on a Session Template; rendered live during the session.
A structured output or reference attached to a company or playbook — research notes, decisions, deliverables. Has its own lifecycle (draft → proposed → confirmed → active → superseded → archived); see Lifecycle reference.
The theming surface inside Gleo. Manages the company-default Theme and any overrides used across templates and runtime playbooks. Only visible when connected to a Forge organisation.
A grouping of artefacts in the artefact Library. Used to keep related research, decisions, or outputs organised under a single header.
⌘K-driven (Ctrl K on Windows) action launcher. The fastest way to do anything in Gleo. Groups results into Create, Navigate, and Account categories. See The command palette.
A role: someone who runs sessions and edits prep / agenda. See Roles overview.
Beach's full-stack build platform. Hosts your customer workspace, manages identity (sign-in, SSO, MFA), and powers the Tech Accelerators — dashboards, surveys, research tools, product pages, docs sites, and SaaS tools — that surround and amplify your Gleo playbooks. Gleo lives on top of Forge. See Profile setup and Forge — organisation sync.
A sticky node attached to a session in Studio — the outcome the session is designed to produce. Kept in sync with the session's purpose field. There is only ever one goal per session.
Public discovery of Public + Published Playbook Templates. Surfaces in the sidebar as Accelerators.
Model Context Protocol — the standard way AI assistants (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, etc.) talk to Gleo to read and act on playbooks, sessions, and prep.
A person in a playbook team or session. Distinct from a workspace member, which is granted in Forge.
A role: a read-only attendee. Sees session content but cannot edit prep, agenda, or responses. See Roles overview.
Your company's tenant in Beach — owned by Forge. A user can belong to multiple organisations and switch between them via the sidebar's organisation switcher. Synonym for Workspace.
A role: holds company-level rights inside Gleo (e.g. Brand Centre access today). Note: workspace-level admin (inviting members, SSO) is configured in Forge.
A role: completes prep and attends sessions. The default role for invited people who aren't facilitators. See Roles overview.
A stage within a Playbook Template — e.g. Discovery, Design, Implementation, or Opening, Middle, Closing. Groups related session templates and is rendered as a coloured frame on the canvas.
A runtime instance of a Playbook Template. Has a team, a Tasks tab, a Questions tab, and an end date. Pinned to the template version it was instantiated from.
The design-time artefact that produces playbooks. Lives in Studio. Has a draft / published lifecycle and a chain of versions over time.
Tasks participants complete before a session — questions, reading, uploads, decisions, ranking, watch-and-respond, and more. Designed on a Session Template; sent to participants when the session is published.
Facilitator, Participant, Observer, and Owner / Admin. Determine what each person can do in a playbook or session. See Roles overview.
A collaborative meeting with prep, agenda, and follow-up. Can be created ad-hoc or instantiated from a Session Template inside a Playbook.
A session blueprint inside a Playbook Template. Holds the agenda structure, the pre-work structure, the goal, and any session-level variables.
A micro-instruction inside an Activity. The smallest unit in the design-time hierarchy. See The Playbook hierarchy.
Playbook Studio — Gleo's design surface. Visual canvas for designing Playbook Templates, Phases, Session Templates, Activities, and Steps.
A reusable digital asset built in Forge — a dashboard, survey, research tool, product page, docs site, or SaaS tool — designed to surround and amplify a Gleo playbook. Built and managed in Forge; consumed alongside Gleo.
A brand bundle: colours, fonts, and logos. Cascades through five levels — Session → Session Template → Playbook Template → Playbook → Company default. See Theme priority chain.
A published snapshot of a Playbook Template. Each Publish action creates a new version. Playbooks are pinned to the version they were instantiated from.
Who can see and use a template — Private (just you), Company (your workspace), or Public (the Marketplace). Set on the template, not on individual sessions.
Your customer environment in Forge — the container for identity, members, Tech Accelerators, and the Gleo organisation that maps onto it. Synonym for Organisation.
