Designing in Playbook Studio
The annotation layer
Drop sticky-note annotations on the canvas to plan, comment, and call out — for your eyes only, for now.
Annotations let you add notes directly onto the Playbook Studio canvas while you're designing a playbook.
Use them to capture ideas, flag areas that need work, sketch alternative approaches, or leave reminders for yourself as you build.
What can you add?
The annotation toolbar currently supports sticky notes.
| Property | Options |
|---|---|
| Shape | Square, Large square, Rectangle |
| Colour | Choose from the available palette |
| Text | Free-form text |
Annotations sit on top of the canvas and do not affect the structure of your playbook.

Common uses
Ideas
Capture thoughts before they're ready to become sessions or activities.
Reminders
Flag areas that need refinement before publishing.
Questions
Mark assumptions, risks, or open decisions.
Planning
Sketch changes and alternatives before modifying the playbook itself.
Tips
Keep annotations lightweight. They're best for short notes and reminders rather than detailed documentation.
Use colours consistently. For example, yellow for ideas, red for risks, and green for decisions.
Hide the layer when you want a clean view. Toggling annotations off makes it easier to focus on the playbook structure itself.
