The Command Palette (⌘K)

Hit ⌘K from anywhere to do almost anything in Gleo without lifting your hands off the keyboard.

The command palette is the single keyboard surface that makes Gleo feel fast. ⌘K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows / Linux) opens it from anywhere in the product. Type to filter; arrow keys to move; Enter to act; Esc to dismiss. Once it's in your fingers, you'll find yourself reaching for it before reaching for a sidebar link.

What's in the palette

The palette groups actions by category. Five categories appear depending on where you are:

Playbook

Only when you're inside a playbook. Jump to its tabs (Home, Sessions, Tasks, Questions, Artefacts), open its team, and run playbook-scoped actions.

Create

Spin up the things Gleo lets you make: a session, a playbook from a template, an artefact, a task, a question.

Navigate

Jump to the major surfaces: Studio, Active Playbooks, Sessions, Artefacts, Brand Centre, Integrations.

Account

Open your profile, switch to a different organisation, sign out.

Help

Open these docs, contact support, view keyboard shortcuts.

The list is context-aware. Open the palette from the home screen and you won't see the Playbook category at all. Open it from inside a playbook and that category jumps to the top, ready for the actions you're most likely to want.

The keyboard model

A handful of keys is all you need:

Key Action
⌘K / Ctrl+K Open the palette from anywhere.
Type Live-filter actions by name.
↑ / ↓ Move the highlight up and down.
Enter Run the highlighted action.
Esc Close the palette.

There's no separate "search" mode — typing always filters. So cmd-k > sess > Enter runs the first action whose name matches sess. Three keystrokes, no mouse.

Three things the palette is good at

1. Navigation

Faster than clicking through the sidebar, especially for surfaces you visit only occasionally:

  • ⌘K → type brand → Enter → Brand Centre.
  • ⌘K → type integ → Enter → Integrations.
  • ⌘K → type templ → Enter → Studio template list.

2. Creation

Everything you might want to start fresh, in one place:

  • ⌘K → type new sess → Enter → opens the create-session form.
  • ⌘K → type new artef → Enter → opens the create-artefact form.
  • ⌘K → type new task (inside a playbook) → adds a task scoped to the current playbook.

3. In-playbook hopping

When you're inside a playbook and need to bounce between its tabs without scrolling sidebars:

  • ⌘K → type task → Enter → Tasks tab of the current playbook.
  • ⌘K → type questi → Enter → Questions tab.
  • ⌘K → type team → Enter → Team tab.

Walkthrough

  1. 1

    Open the palette from anywhere

Press ⌘K (or Ctrl+K). The palette opens with all categories visible.

  2. 2

    Try a Create action

Type session. The Create → Session action highlights. Press Enter — Gleo opens the create-session flow.

  3. 3

    Try a Navigate action

⌘K → studio → Enter. You land in Playbook Studio.

  4. 4

Open a playbook and try a Playbook-scoped action

From Active Playbooks, open any playbook. Press ⌘K — notice the new Playbook category at the top. Type tasks → Enter. You're on the playbook's Tasks tab.

  5. 5

    Try an Account action

⌘K → profile → Enter. (Or — carefully — try sign out when you actually want to sign out.)

Tips & pitfalls

Train yourself for a week. The palette is faster than the sidebar for most navigation, but only if you build the habit. Pick one task you do daily — opening Active Playbooks, say — and force yourself to do it via ⌘K for a week. After that, your hands will reach for ⌘K automatically.

Don't worry about exact action names. The filter matches partial words and is forgiving — sess finds Create Session just as well as the full name. Type the shortest unambiguous prefix.

Esc is your safety net. Open the palette by mistake? Esc dismisses with no action taken. There's no need to mouse over to a close button.
