Running Active Playbooks
Artefacts tab
Every artefact this playbook has produced — the playbook-scoped lens on the wider Artefact Library.
The Artefacts tab is the playbook-scoped lens on artefacts — the same content that lives in the workspace-wide Artefact Library, but filtered to just this playbook's collection. It's the right place to look when the question is "what has this engagement produced?" rather than "what's the team made overall?"
If you're new to artefacts as a concept — kinds, categories, content modes, statuses — start with What are artefacts before this page.
What this tab shows
Every artefact filed in this playbook's collection — by default, that's everything created from inside the playbook (sessions in the playbook, tasks in the playbook, AI-generated outputs from the playbook's runs).
The tab opens with the first artefact auto-selected in the detail pane, so you land somewhere immediately useful rather than on an empty list.
This tab is a lens, not a separate store. Every artefact you see here also appears in the global Artefact Library, filtered to this playbook's collection. Edits made in either place affect the same underlying artefact — they're the same data, viewed two ways.
When to use this tab vs the Library
| Question | Surface |
|---|---|
| What artefacts has this playbook produced? | This tab. |
| What's our team made across all playbooks? | Artefact Library. |
| Find me every "active" decision in the workspace. | Artefact Library, filtered by category and status. |
| I'm in a session and want to grab the right artefact. | This tab — same playbook context. |
| Search across collections semantically. | Artefact Library. |
The pattern: the Artefacts tab is the in-context view; the Library is the cross-context view.
Creating a playbook-scoped artefact
Click New artefact from this tab to open the create flow with the playbook's collection pre-selected. The new artefact lands in this playbook's collection automatically — no need to pick a destination.
The full create-flow walkthrough lives on Creating an artefact — kind, category, content mode, body. The only thing different here is the pre-selected collection.
Realtime: AI-generated artefacts
If a playbook step is generating an artefact in the background (an AI-synthesised summary, an extracted decision log, a generated proposal), it shows on the tab as a placeholder skeleton that hydrates as the work completes — same pattern as on the Tasks tab.
Don't refresh while the placeholder is showing; it'll just restart the live update. Wait — usually seconds, not minutes.
Walkthrough
-
1
Open the Artefacts tab
Inside any playbook, switch to the Artefacts tab. The first artefact in the playbook's collection is auto-selected in the detail pane.
-
2
Read the auto-selected artefact
Detail pane on the right; metadata; version history drawer. (See The Artefact Library for the full anatomy.)
-
3
Open another artefact in the list
Click any other artefact in the playbook's list to bring it into the detail pane.
-
4
Create a new playbook-scoped artefact
Click New artefact. The create form opens with this playbook's collection pre-selected — see Creating an artefact.
-
5
Cross-check from the Library
Open the Artefact Library; filter by this playbook's collection. You'll see exactly the same artefacts as on this tab — confirming they're one set, two views.
Tips & pitfalls
Use this tab during sessions; use the Library for retrospective reads. When you're in the middle of a playbook, this tab keeps you in context — no filtering needed. When you want to look across engagements (find a similar artefact from a previous client, audit decisions across playbooks), the Library is the right surface.
The auto-select is just a starting point, not a recommendation. Whichever artefact happens to be selected when you land on the tab isn't necessarily the one that matters most — pick the one you actually need from the list.
Don't recreate when you should reference. If the artefact you need already lives in another playbook, the right move is usually a linked external artefact rather than copying. Avoids drift; preserves source-of-truth.
